Welcome
The British Language Centre is a language school founded in Sondrio in 1985 and is recognized as an authorized examination centre for Cambridge Assessment English by the Italian Ministry of Education.
We offer courses in English and Italian at all levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) structured around the needs of different learners: children, teenagers, university students, U3A, professionals and companies.

We offer a very wide range of courses, as wide indeed as the requirements of our students. By means of a short written and spoken test with one of our teachers we are able to place students in the course that best suits their needs.
Our business competence
We have always collaborated closely with the most important local businesses in the valley offering courses for management and their collaborators. Having carried out an in-depth needs analysis, our courses are then designed specifically around the needs of the individual client.
Language Certification
The British Language Centre is the only officially recognized examinations centre for University of Cambridge Assessment English in the Province of Sondrio. Every year we are responsible for the professional running of more than a thousand Cambridge examinations throughout the province – from Bormio to Chiavenna.

Our Teachers
The staff at the British Language Centre are not only native speakers, they are also fully qualified experts in the teaching of English as a foreign language. They all have a degree and postgraduate certification in the teaching of English to children and adults, such as the CELTA or DELTA. Furthermore, a number of other on-going training opportunities are available both in Italy and abroad – most recently Spain - and there is also a programme of in-house training and observations during the school year.

We have strong links to a number of excellent UK-based institutions offering English courses to non-native speakers all year round. We offer not just any old study holiday but a real educational and life experience for both youngsters and adults.
