In June 2002 we met Abune Mengisteab Tesfamariam, Bishop of Asmara, whose Dioscese is responsible for over sixty schools in the East African country of Eritrea. The Bishop was interested in our experience of teaching and teacher-training and Steve and Adrian were subsequently invited to run a teacher-training course in eritrea.

And so it was that while the north of Italy was freezing under feet of snow, Steve and Adrian flew to Asmara and ran a week's intensive residential course in the nearby town of Decamhare.

The following week was spent visiting schools around the country, observing the course participants in their own workplace, doing feedback sessions and demonstration lessons. We hope to carry on with the project in 2004
